CHATHAM BALLHAWKS VOLLEYBALL CLUB
coronavirus (COVID-19) updates
Oct 27TH, 2021
As mentioned in our last post October 25TH, we will continue to implement all provincially and regionally mandated COVID-19 guidelines and any rules set out by each facility.
On October 26TH the local Public Health Unit advised that effective Oct 31ST, all athletes 12 years of age or older whom are presently eligible for the vaccine must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID or proof of medical exemption as recognized by the Public Health Agency of Canada or our Local Health Authority, where applicable by November 1ST, 2021 and subsequently, must provide proof of full vaccination as of November 30TH, 2021 in order to be able to enter any indoor sports and recreational fitness facility in Chatham-Kent.
If you have any questions regarding or wish to discuss these measures in further detail, please contact chathamballhawks@gmail.com

In response to COVID, the Chatham Ballhawks Volleyball Club has implemented and maintained robust safety protocols to ensure a safe training and playing environment for our volleyball community. Following up from our notification Sep 25TH that required proof of vaccination for all coaches and adult volunteers as well as the strong recommendation for all players 12+ to be vaccinated by Oct 31ST, the Ballhawks would like to provide the following information and notification to further enhance our ability to provide a safe environment.
We have been advised by OVA and discussions with many clubs in the surrounding area, that indoor gym facilities across the majority of Ontario for competition will require proof of vaccination by all eligible participants to enter. Furthermore, any local indoor gym facilities that the Ballhawks may be able to use for practices and competition and that fall under the Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services [CLASS] will require proof of vaccination from COVID-19 by all eligible participants: coaches, volunteers, and athletes, as per CLASS policies for community use. This may happen prior to Dec 2021.
To maximize the opportunity to safely pursue our passion for volleyball throughout this entire season, the Ballhawks will require that all athletes 12 years of age or older whom are presently eligible for the vaccine provide proof of full vaccination against COVID or proof of medical exemption as recognized by the Public Health Agency of Canada or our Local Health Authority, where applicable by January 1ST, 2022.
We will continue to implement all other provincially and regionally mandated COVID-19 guidelines and any rules set out by each facility. Together, we can help minimize disruptions due to COVID this season and build a healthy sporting environment that keeps our Ballhawks VC volleyball community active and on the court.
If you have any questions regarding or wish to discuss these measures in further detail, please contact chathamballhawks@gmail.com

In consideration of the present Ontario government and OVA vaccination policy, the Ballhawks, with thoughtful consideration have decided that proof of vaccination for all coaches and adult volunteers is mandatory. Presently, no spectators are allowed but if in the instance this does become an option, all others 12+ that wish to enter, must show proof of vaccination and be masked while in the facility.
In regard to athletes 12+, although proof of vaccination to the Ballhawks club is not mandatory at this time, it is strongly recommended that your daughter/son be fully vaccinated by Oct 31ST. This recommendation stems from information we are hearing and experiencing for travel sports and some school boards across the province. It is anticipated that should we schedule exhibition games with other teams or OVA tournaments happen in other areas all athletes 12+, coaches, volunteers and parents will very likely be required to provide proof of vaccination set by each team/tournament/facility.
The Ontario Ministry of Health considers its regulations to be a baseline and allows organizations and businesses to supplement with further measures to ensure the health and safety of their participants. The Ballhawks will continually consider the evolving public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic and will adjust policies as we move forward into the volleyball season.
